YOGA

My approach is a potent combination of somatic awareness, breath and a formal approach to movement, blending alignment-based yoga, science-backed mobility, and fascia stretching. Therapeutic private sessions include hands on adjustments to reorient the body, release habitually held tension in the muscles and energy system. Together, we will uncover blind spots, reduce stress, strengthen areas of weakness and find better range of motion. These sessions create a more balanced abode, bring hydration to your tissues, space in the joints, energetic harmony, boost neuroplasticity and mental clarity. Through curiosity, compassion, and a map to traverse the terrain of our bodies, we can navigate our bodies efficiently, effectively and mindfully. We are deeply connected to the universal patterns and principles of nature, not separate from it.  

My offering includes Yoga Therapy, Katonah Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, functional range conditioning, mobility, resistance fascia stretching, with my own 10+ yrs of reading bodies and teaching — to reform the mind, body and spirit. We move through ourselves with ourselves in order to understand ourselves more deeply.

PRIVATE THERAPUTIC YOGA SESSIONS

Private sessions can be deeply restorative and informative and include adjustments to reorient the body allowing you to release habitual tension. We can strengthen areas of weakness or underuse and also release tension in areas of overuse. These sessions are considered preventative holistic healthcare and bring balance in the tissues, space in the joints and mental and emotional harmony.

Together, we will develop optional conditions that allow the body to heal itself.

You’ll learn tools to powerfully participate in your wellbeing, release negative patterns and reorient yourself to move with more ease— with more flexibility and range of motion.

A sense of well-being, insights and transformation may develop.

With 1000+ hours of Yoga training, I’ve studied under master teachers in Yoga and somatic therapies, and I come from a lifetime of studying movement and athletics. My first training was with a Physical Therapist who developed a Yoga method that is safe and functional. I’ve trained in Therapeutic Yoga with Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman, and I am certified in Trauma Informed Yoga. I am also a certified Teacher in Katonah Yoga by the founder Nevine Michaan, a syncretic Hatha practice developed over 40 years that incorporates classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, mythology, metaphor, and imagination to map the terrain of the body, navigate our polarities and refine our techniques.

Yoga therapy applies yoga postures to alieviate health challenges in a holistic manner. It serves as a preventative and also to alleviate suffering, improve symptoms and facilitate healing at all levels. Yoga postures realign the bones and reforms the muscles and ligaments. Good physical alignment removes stagnation and frees the flow of chi or energy within the spinal cord and throughout the meridians of the body. Proper flow of energy supports the body in healing. 

Yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system to adopt a healthier stress response and supports an overly taxed nervous system. A 10-week, yoga-based mindfulness program reduced symptoms of PTSD among women with chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD. (source)

Pricing

Sessions are $200/hr.

I can also incorporate meditation and/or somatic coaching.

Location

Private sessions can be held in my Austin studio in Sunset Valley or in your home/office or over Zoom. I add a small fee for commutes.
